Our Story
It all began with a dream.
A dream born of passion, heritage, and ambition. After a career path in the corporate world where all the boxes seemed to be ticked, one undeniable truth emerged: the need to follow a more aligned, more creative, more vibrant path.
Driven by a love for beauty, African cultures, and artisanal craftsmanship, the founder made the bold choice to reinvent herself. To train, to learn, to create… and above all, to bring a vision to life: that of a brand that celebrates women with elegance, power, and authenticity.
This is how BoubouQueens was born.
A brand designed to meet a real need: to offer reliable, refined, and perfectly crafted outfits, in contrast to the disappointments too often experienced. Each piece is imagined with high standards and handcrafted by passionate Senegalese artisans, guarantors of precious savoir-faire.
But beyond clothing, BoubouQueens is an experience. An invitation to feel beautiful, confident, and fully oneself.
Our mission is simple: to elevate every woman, honor our roots, and create pieces that tell a story—yours.
Today, every "Queen" who trusts us becomes part of this adventure. And we continue, with gratitude and passion, to write the next chapter… through each of our creations.
Our roots: Senegal and Dakar's craftsmanship
BouBouQueens draws its inspiration from the sartorial heritage of West Africa, and more specifically from Senegal. Our boubous are made in partner workshops in Dakar, where embroiderer artisans perpetuate a savoir-faire passed down from generation to generation.
Each embroidery—whether geometric, floral, or with gold thread—is made entirely by hand. It is this artisanal requirement that makes the difference: none of our pieces are mass-produced. Each boubou is unique.
Our vision: reinventing African modest fashion
At BouBouQueens, we believe that African fashion can be modest, modern, and luxurious all at once. Our creations are for women of the African diaspora in France and around the world who want to wear their heritage with pride—every day and on special occasions.
We work with noble materials—glazed linen, shantung silk, satin, organza—to create African dresses and women's boubous that combine tradition and contemporaneity.
